My name is Lauren Wiepking and I'm so excited to be your third grade teacher this year!
This is my second year teaching 3rd grade at College Park and I love being a part of the College Park community! I have been a teacher for 6 years now and I have loved every minute of it! I moved back down to Orange County in 2017 after spending the last 5 years living in Silicon Valley and working in Mountain View Whisman School District. I worked at the district level as a technology integration coach, helping teachers to successfully implement technology and 21st Century learning in their classrooms. Before that I taught 4th grade at Monta Loma Elementary and 5th grade at Landels Elementary. I am Irvine born and raised and attended IUSD schools in grades K-12. I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to return to Irvine and teach here at College Park. We have an amazing and supportive family environment here in Irvine. The entire College Park staff as well as the community is truly dedicated to the success of our students. I especially love teaching 3rd grade because it is a transition year into the upper grades. It is so exciting to see students become independent and enthusiastic learners!
I grew up in Southern California (Orange County), and most of my family still lives close by. I have also lived in Santa Barbara, San Jose, and Cupertino, but now I live with my husband Rick and our adopted dog, Tibby in Ladera Ranch. I earned my B.A. in Business Economics with a Minor in Education from UC Santa Barbara. I also have a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and an M.S. in Education, both from California State University, Fullerton. I have been working with children in different capacities - volunteering, babysitting, summer day camps, after school programs - since I was in elementary school helping my mom in her first grade classroom. I guess you could say teaching runs in my family! I truly love being a teacher and could not imagine myself spending my time any other way.
When I'm not teaching or working in my classroom, I like to go shopping, go to the pool, take walks with Tibby, crochet, do puzzles, and spend time with my family and friends.
